For April, The Center for Global Awareness will focus on one aspect of poverty, access to clean water.  You can help ensure that children have an opportunity to drink clean water by donating to Lifestraw, a personal and portable plastic filtered straw, designed to turn most surface water into drinking water.  Lifestraw kills disease-causing microorganisms that spread cholera, diarrhea, dysentery and typhoid.  Please take a donation envelope from the Giving Tree and save the life of a child with each $4 purchase.

Thank You for your kindness and thoughtfulness!  The Bethlehem Women of the ELCA would like to express their gratitude to our congregation for the generous donations of “Luxury and Spa Items” for Amelia’s Light.  These “love gifts” are displayed on the altar steps Sunday February 24th, and they will be blessed by Pastor Gene before being delivered to the women and children at Amelia’s Light at the Pacifica Women’s Springtime Gathering on March 1. Thank you and may God bless you for supporting these women and children on their way to self-sufficient living!

Quilt Donation; On December 14th the Scraps and Prayers group delivered 8 beautiful quilts to the Wounded Warrior center at Camp Pendleton Naval hospital. These quilts were made by the Scraps and Prayers sewing ladies of Bethlehem Lutheran Women. We had given 6 before and 6 to Balboa Naval Hospital. Scraps and Prayers meets Wednesday mornings at 8:30 am in the Mullti-use room at church and all are welcome. More hands are always needed, with no experience necessary! See the pictures below.

Below are the "Quilts for Project Comfort Fund" sewn by the Scraps and Prayers group. These quilts, for 2007, are being donated to a wide variety of caring humanitarian services. Some may have been purchased for the homes of our congregation to assist this project with continuing funds.

Bethlehem Women’s Christmas Bazaar 2007  THANK YOU to everyone who donated crafts and baked goods to the bazaar. A wide variety of items were offered:  charming fair trade Christmas ornaments, Nativities and jewelry; beautifully gift-wrapped baskets of fair trade coffee and chocolate; and hand crafted delectable edibles, quilts, embroidery, silk-screened tote bags, gardener’s aprons, and knitted items. The Bazaar proceeds totaled nearly $300.00. A very special thank you to Ralph and Elke Randau who donated a king-sized, one-of-a-kind, hand carved German wooden nutcracker!  This item was sold for $150.00, which will be given to the “End of Year Offering.”  Thank you for doing your Christmas shopping at the Bethlehem Women’s Christmas Bazaar!
