During August and September, Marines
from the Weapons and Field Training Battalion, Edison Range, Camp Pendleton, CA spent two days refurbishing and repairing
portions of Bethlehem’s campus.
.
On August 28th four Marines spent the day painting the interior
entry area of our Childcare Building. When this was last done, no one is sure but from the amount of time
and effort required to paint this area, it was evident that it was truly needed. The Childcare Building
is used Monday through Friday by our preschool program which reaches out to approximately 200 children in the community as
well as for numerous other church groups during the week. The entry area is definitely a more welcome area
with the new paint job. The Marines involved were SSgt Robin S. Louie, Sgt Paula M. Payne, Sgt Joth Xiong
and LCpl Matthew V. Boyd.
.
On September 9th five Marines spent the day cleaning, clearing and refurbishing
the front playground used daily by our preschool and childcare programs with almost 300 children in the two programs.
It is also used daily by families in the community. The work done by the Marines ensured a safer
play experience for all the children who use it. The Marines involved were SSgt Robin S. Louie, Sgt Paula M. Payne, Sgt Joth Xiong, Sgt Joshua M. Katkov and
Pvt Anthony R. Saracoglu.
